Esslemont Estate is part of the Hunter Valley wine growing region known as Broke Fordwich.The region of Broke Fordwich was settled in 1824, following a land grant of 6000 acres from the Governer Lord Castlereagh, To John De Marquet Blaxland from Fordwych Kent, who emigrated to New South Wales in 1805.
Careful vineyard management by Phil Cross, together with the rich loamy soils of the Hunter Valley region, are the key elements in producing these outstanding wines. The annual harvest at vintage and the wonders of the wine making, result in wine which is a pleasure to produce and a pleaure to consume.
The first Shiraz vines on Esslemont Estate were planted over 40 years ago, and today produce premium grapes for the famous Esslemont Estate Shiraz.
